Who am I?
Hi, I'm Leo. I am a full-time yoga teacher (E-RYT 500) based in Vancouver. I strive to continue learning from others and teach yoga postures, meditation and breathing with integrity, clarity and compassion.
In my classes, you can expect that they will include components of intelligent sequencing and postural alignment. Each class may include the use of verbal adjustments, props, modifications and demonstrations to educate the students about the practice. I strive to connect to each student and discover ways in which I can assist them in their growth as an individual. My goal as a teacher is to create a welcoming space that supports community, courage and stillness.
My passions outside of yoga stretch into areas such as Men's groups, transformation workshops, online entrepreneurship, conscious relationships, western esoteric traditions & Zen Buddhism.
As many teachers and mentors of mine have done for me (Shelley Tomcyzk, Noah Maze, Michael Stone & Teertha Mistleberger), I am committed to supporting you in your self- discovery.
1986 - Born onto to this earth
1986 - 2008 - nothing overly interesting...
2009 - Graduated in Marketing from SFU, sold my belongings to become a full-time hippie, biked from Vancouver to Mexico. (best decision of my life)
2010 - Backpacked through Central & South America and did my first yoga class.
2010 - Completed a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in India @ Rishikesh Yog Peeth. Here I learned how to clean my nose with a rubber straw (and many other more useful things)
2011 - Committed 40 days of silence in a meditation retreat in search of answers to: who am I, why am I here, what is my purpose/mission? Discovered no concrete answers to my questions, resigned my designation as a hippie and dedicated my life to teaching yoga
2012 - Completed another 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in Vancouver @ Innerspace Yoga and was mentored by Shelley Tomczyk. I produced a Yoga DVD called The Homemade Yoga Practice.
2013 - Began collaborating with Shelley and taught retreats and 200hr Teacher Training together.
2014 - Completed a 300hr Noah Maze Teacher Training in LA and become certified as as YOGAMAZÉ yoga teacher.
2015 - Moved to Vancouver and started teaching at the local studios. Discovered that there was a lack of community and decided to do something about it.
2016 - 2017 - As a result, I founded the Modern Yoga Podcast as a way of investigating the yoga industry and supporting teachers and practitioners. Alongside, I created the Modern Yoga Talks to provide a live platform for discussion. I also lead the Vancouver Yoga Teacher's Circle to help teachers in their personal and professional development through community.
